Rocksbox- Box Nine

After a few disappointing boxes, I was pleased with Rocksbox box nine. It arrived in less than a week, faster than any other shipment and it contained pieces that I seriously considered keeping. I took a look at the stylist on my previous boxes and although I'm only given their first name, it seems like "Lisa", who styled box nine, also styled two other boxes. The "Lisa Boxes" have been notably better than the ones sent from other stylists.

Kendra Scott is a hit or miss brand for me. Over the years, I've purchased a few pieces from Kendra Scott via Nordstrom, but often I'm not drawn to the brand. I was sent the Kendra Scott Rayne Silver Necklace in White Pearl.

Out of the box, I wasn't sure about the necklace. It's clunky. However, when paired with a green sweater, the appeal factor shot up. It's complimentary and I like the long length.

I gave thought to how it would work in my wardrobe, trying to pair it with several outfits and ultimately, I declined the necklace, because I didn't think it would get frequent wear.

The Sophie Harper Pave Square Studs in Silver are very pretty.

l love the sparkle, size, shape, feel, et...nothing to dislike. However, I have several similar pairs from other brands.

The most unusual piece was the Nakamol Mixed Green Wrap Bracelet. This bracelet comes in several colors and I had it on my wishlist.

Green is my favorite color. I have tons of green in my wardrobe, including mint, which this bracelet would perfectly compliment. The bracelet has a spring/summer vibe and aesthetically fits with the style of my warm weather wardrobe. The bracelet seemed like a keeper.

The problem was the way it clasps. It's one giant beaded string with knots and loops to keep it tied. This creates an excess of material that needs to either hang loose or be tucked. I tried both options, both were awkward and itchy. It looked nice from the top, but messy underneath.

Although I didn't purchase jewelry from this set, I feel a renewed hope that Rockbox is starting to understand my preferences. Originally, I was going to give my Rocksbox experiment a ten box try, so let's see how they do with box ten. If they knock it out of the park, I may need to keep going! Truthfully, when the boxes arrive, I still feel like a kid on Christmas morning. It's a sunny spot among the bills and junk mail.

Rocksbox- Box Eight

The week before Christmas, I was anxiously watching UPS tracking for my eighth Rocksbox, when I noticed that it had been stuck for days at a depot about an hour from my home. The normal pattern has the shipments stopping for one night at that particular post office before heading to our local office. Concerned that the shipment had become lost, I sent an email to Rocksbox.

Rocksbox customer service was awesome. Within twelve hours, on Christmas Eve morning, I received a response. Unfortunately, the shipment had been delayed and would not arrive until the following week. This meant that box eight, arrived sometime while we were vacationing in Florida. To compensate for the delay, Rocksbox gave me a free month of service ($19.00 value), plus ten dollars in "Forever Spend." As part of the program, I receive ten dollars a month to spend towards jewelry, but the money does not carryover if it is unused. As the name implies, the "Forever Spend" does carryover.

Let's check out box eight.

The Wanderlust + CO Crystal Wrap-Around Gold Ring is pretty. I like the curved shape.

It's also adjustable.

I liked it, but ultimately it wasn't a keeper, because it was so similar to a ring that I've already purchased through Rocksbox. I didn't need two. I was disappointed that they would include a piece that was so much like something that they already I own.

The Loren Hope Sophia Studs in Neon Pink, were actually a good choice for me. I had mentioned on previous feedback that I like bright colors.

Rocksbox has no way of knowing that I already own a very similar pair of Kate Spade earrings. The Loren Hope earrings are a punchy pink and cloudy, while the Kate Spades are rose-pink and clear. I took a picture of the two side-by-side, with another one of my favorite Kate Spade studs that has a cluster of brightly colored stones. I definitely prefer the Kate Spade pieces that I own, to the Loren Hope studs, but this was still a good pick for me. I was starting to worry that the Rocksbox stylist were not understanding "my style".

I liked the Jules Smith Alicia Necklace prior to trying it on. The three gold strands are delicate and pretty. I thought this might be a good every-day piece for my collection.

This necklace is problematic. The strands twist and the metal links kink. In the picture below, I'm wearing it as long as possible. It might have looked better if it had been double the length ( although that would have been a bigger mess for the strands), but at this length, it didn't look right with most of my wardrobe. It's awkward.

The excellent customer service bought me another month of this experiment, but eight boxes in, I'm growing disappointed with Rocksbox. At the start, I was sure that I would find plenty of pieces that I wanted to buy. I was hoping to add some sparkle to my collection, but out of thirty-two pieces of jewelry sent, I've only purchased one ring.

Fingers crossed that Box Nine will be a winner!

Rocksbox- Box Seven

I'm conflicted. On one hand, I'm still excited to receive my Rocksbox shipments. Unwrapping the box is like getting a birthday present, and I love the element of surprise with the selections. It's definitely more exciting than getting bills in the mail! On the other hand, the pieces have mostly been duds.

It seems that either the items that I put on my wish list look different from their pictures or, I'm being sent random pieces that are really different from those that I've requested. I like the opportunity to try new things, but I had thought that by Box Seven (twenty-one pieces of jewelry later) that the stylists would have a better idea of my tastes. Perhaps their inventory just isn't very "me"?

Box Seven

Box Seven arrived a few hours before we were heading off to a holiday party. I ended up wearing the Gorjana Alma Cuff to the party.

The cuff is a pretty, very simple piece. It would be versatile for day/night wear. I have thin wrists, so I liked that it was bendy and adjustable. It didn't slide around.  I liked it, but it looked like several bracelets that I already own, so it wasn't a keeper.

The Gorjana Cameron Fringe Earrings were a pick from my wish list.

I liked the style, but not the length. They were a touch too long.

I love statement necklaces and I specifically requested that a statement necklace be included in Box Seven. The Perry Street Eve Necklace was NOT on my wish list.

Hands down, this is the ugliest piece of jewelry that Rocksbox has sent. The only thing that I liked about it was the teal color of the stones. Teal is one of my go-to colors. Everything else was awful; the thick chain, huge cluster of stones. Here is a closer look-

I immediately hated it and knew that it was going back, but to give it a solid review, here is a picture of it on. The chain was short and it is shown at it longest length.

I asked for another statement necklace to be sent in Box Eight. Here's to hoping that it's more flattering. I really want to find pieces to add to my permanent collection, but so far, I've only purchased one piece. C'mon Rocksbox, make me want to spend!
