UK August -October 2013- Premiere Inn Blackpool
You really should steer clear of Blackpool. It was the worst place that we visited on our UK trip. More on the town of Blackpool coming up, this review is for the hotel where we stayed during our night-stop.
Premiere Inn is a UK hotel chain that is on par with America's Motel Six brand. They are cheap and everywhere! We found availability at a Premiere Inn located adjacent to the airport and just a short walk from the tourist attractions in Blackpool. The walkability factor was a huge reason that we picked this particular hotel. The location was also desirable, because although it was close to the attractions, it wasn't right in the thick of things. It felt safer and cleaner.
We were given the last room available, a handicap accessible room on the first floor. The only thing that stood out about it being handicap accessible, was the larger bathroom and emergency cord. Otherwise, it looked like a standard room.
It's no frills, but I started out impressed with Premiere Inn.
The front desk clerk was nice, the room seem clean, it was fairly tastefully decorated (I like purple), they gave us thirty minutes free wi-fi.... actually, the free wi-fi won me over, because many of the places we stayed charged an absorbanent amount for wi-fi, so a free half hour made me happy. It was enough time to check my email and Facebook.
My impression of Premiere Inn changed when it was time for bed.
It was the worst night of sleep that I have ever had in a hotel. The mattress was fine, but the linens made my skin itch. I think that I may have been allergic to the detergent that they use, because my skin broke out into a rash and I couldn't stop scratching. It was miserable. It was bad enough that I will likely never stay at a Premiere Inn again. I travel frequently and I've never had this experience in any other hotel. It makes my skin crawl just thinking about it!
Stay tuned for our Blackpool Adventure...babies gambling, giant disco balls and the UK's largest water park!
