UK August-October 2013- Sands Resort in Newquay
Looking for the perfect family hotel for a vacation in England? Head to the Sands Resort in the beach town of Newquay. We spent five wonderful nights at the resort, with the kids and Dan's parents. A fun time was had by all.
As soon as we entered the lobby, we felt like we were on a beach vacation. I love the sails, such a cute touch.
We had a room on the top floor and as soon as we entered, we were the kid's bedroom.
This very kid friendly resort even included a pint-sized sink. This was great for Zoe, as she had her own mirror for dolling herself up before dinner each night. Sparkly pink lipgloss was the best present that we could have ever given a six year old!
The kids sink was great as it freed up space for toiletries in the main bathroom, which was a little scant on shelves.
I also really appreciated the enormous closet, with enough shelves for us each to have our own area for clothes. It kept things neat and organized.
The main room had a king size bed, computer desk and living area, all with stunning views of the ocean.
The property had an amazing play area for the kids, which included a giant checker board, a hedge maze, a zipline...
and a bouncy castle!!!!
But really, the kids were most excited about the indoor swimming pool.
The ocean wasn't the only beautiful view. If you looked the other direction, there are green fields adjacent to the Sands Resort.
My favorite part of the resort was the three-course dinners. I was impressed with how accommodating they are for all types of visitors. There are two main dining rooms and several seating times. Adults can either eat with or without their children. There is an early children's dinner and a time for families to eat together. The Sands Resort offers baby monitoring, for adults that want to dine sans the kids. This resort wasn't filled with families, there were plenty of adults without kids on the property.
We always dined with the kids and there was something that I noticed. The kids had a special kids menu, but it wasn't filled with the junk choices ( chicken fingers/hot dogs/pizza) that kids are normally given. It had quality food, in smaller portions and the kids were given three- courses with their own set of silverware that included multi-course utensils. It was a proper dinner and all of the kids in the dining room rose to the occasion. the expectations were higher and everyone was on their best behavior. It was a stark contrast to our meals a few days later at Legoland, where chaos reigned supreme. Dining at the Sand Resort gave us real, quality family time.
The menu changed nightly and everything was excellent. Unfortunately, I got a bad cold during our stay, but the staff even delivered my meals to our room. Here is a sample of some of the food that we enjoyed and a picture of a menu.
Our stay at the Sands Resort was one of my favorite parts of our United Kingdom vacation. I highly recommend this resort if you're visiting the Cornwall area. It was excellent in every way.
