On the first half of our trip to Sweden, we ate at two of the restaurants near the Flyghotellet, where we were staying.

The Sorbon is a pub located adjacent to the Flyghotellet.

The Sorbon has a huge wrap-around patio that was always crammed with people, even late at night. It didn't look very impressive from the outside, but its undeniable popularity and proximity to our hotel, made it worth a try.

The decor immediately made me feel at home. I looked up and saw a giant California state flag on the ceiling!

The staff went out of their way to welcome us and the entire restaurant just had a great vibe. However, what really sealed the deal was my meal. I ordered the Pasta Alla Piemontese and it was the best pasta dish that I have ever eaten. Seriously. I spent the rest of the trip craving it. Dan had the ribs and although his experience wasn't quite as awe-inspiring as mine, he enjoyed his meal. This is a must-do the next time we are in Sweden.

We also tried a Chinese restaurant called East Ocean, which was located across the street from our hotel.

We ordered the pre-set menu for two, which included cashew chicken, fried shrimp, pork balls and a beef dish. It was decent food.

I've had Chinese food while traveling to Canada, England and now, Sweden. I may get into hot water for this statement, but it all tastes more or less the same. It's this westernized version of "Chinese Food", with the same offerings on the menu and prepared in a similar fashion. The only difference, is the food is worse or better based on the competency of the cook. Other than our server only being able to speak in Chinese and limited Swedish, this restaurant could have been in America and it wouldn't have seemed different.

What we liked about East Ocean, was compared to the other places that we ate, it was a bargain. Cheap and plentiful!
