Winter Holiday 2015/2016 - Hyatt Regency at Orlando International Airport

Even though we had to rush from EPCOT to the airport to meet our rental car return deadline, we did have one final night in Orlando. Since our flight was super early, we thought it would be less stressful to stay at the Hyatt Regency located right in the main terminal of the Orlando International Airport.

Prior to returning our car, we wanted to find the entrance to the hotel. It is not well marked. We circled the airport three times, before finding it. It didn't help that it was raining and dark. To keep things easy, we parked the car in a temporary spot and checked-in to our room, before dealing with the car rental.

Here is how the hotel looks from the terminal. I realized that although I have visited Orlando International Airport many times, I never noticed the hotel in the terminal. It's enormous!

The lay-out is odd. We had to walk a very long distance to our room, through both narrow corridors and a large, atrium type of space with concrete planters. Since we were hauling our luggage, the long walk was a pain. My main impression from the layout and architecture, is that the hotel is very dated. It wasn't as nice as other Hyatt Regency properties.

Luckily, our room was lovely. It was clean and comfortable, with all of the amenities that we needed.

The best part was our balcony, which overlooked the terminal, providing the ultimate people watching experience.

We didn't make use of the facilities, but the hotel has a fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool, restaurants, and bars. Based on our flight time, it was definitely the ideal solution to spend a night at the Hyatt Regency, and just walk downstairs in the morning to the check-in desk, stress-free. Depending on your own travel itinerary, I'd absolutely recommend considering a night at the airport.
