During the second half of our time in Sweden, we spent three nights at the Hilton Slussen, right in the middle of all of the action in Stockholm.
The staff at the Hilton Slussen were all wonderful. They were friendly and always on hand to help us make reservations or to give us itinerary suggestions. In the mornings, the hotel had a representative from the local boat tour company to book sightseeing trips. The hotel was large and had many business travelers, but it also had a fair number of tourists.
On the elevator ride to our room, we were given a warning about the local criminals. Luckily, nothing bad happened during our visit and I think this sign is probably true of any big city with tourism. Unfortunately.
When we got to our room, we were greeted with this on the television screen.
And this amazing view of Stockholm.
Our room was really nice, with robes and slippers waiting for us on our super comfortable bed.
Although it had an over-the-top, ugly marble theme, the bathroom was very nice. The shower had strong water pressure, the bathtub was deep and a make-up mirror was mounted near the sink. I love, love, love when hotel bathrooms include make-up mirrors.
The one fail in the room, was a low hung metal storage basket in the closet. I opened the closet and bashed my leg on the basket. I appreciate that the hotel has maximized their closet space, but this was a terrible place for the basket. Ouch.
We were given access to the Executive Lounge, which was a mixed blessing. On the plus, it's great to be able to grab a quick snack and the food was really yummy. On the minus, the food was so good and plentiful, that many people decide to camp out and have their dinner in the lounge, making it a crowded mess. When we visited during slow times, the atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. Timing is everything with the lounge.
Our stay included breakfast and we had the choice to take it in the lounge or to head downstairs to a large buffet. The buffet was the way to go. It had an extensive selection of both hot and cold items, include one table dedicated to all types of juices. The best item was the Pain Au Chocolate. Amazing! We could even custom order items off of a menu. It was the best hotel breakfast of the entire trip.
The Hilton Slussen was a fantastic hotel for touring Stockholm. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here on future vacations or to recommend it.
